Sporting Licenses

Hunting, fishing fees range from $5 for a New York State resident age 65 and over to $31 for a combination fishing/hunting licenses. Non resident licenses are considerably higher.  As of June 1, 2020 the City Clerk’s Office will NOT be issuing hunting or fishing licenses, you can visit the Department of Environmental Conservation website at https://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/6101.html to purchase for a license.

Certified birth, death, and marriage records are $10 each.

New York State Marriage License

A couple who plans on marrying in New York State may obtain their marriage license from any Town or City Clerk within the State. The prospective couple must be at least 18 years of age. (Under 18 years of age, parental consent is required). The marriage license must be obtained at least 24 hours before the marriage and it is valid for 60 days after issued. The fee for a marriage license is $40.

Proof of age and identity with any of the following:
- Baptismal Record
- Certified Birth Record
- Naturalization Record

You also need a driver's license, passport or employment photo ID.

If either party was previously married, certified divorce papers for every marriage must be presented. If a death occurred, a certified death certificate is required.

Licenses for Bingo Games

Issued only to qualifying organizations with a New York State Racing and Wagering ID number. $18.75 per occasion and 3% of profits paid to City of Cohoes.

Licenses for Games of Chance

Issued only to qualifying organizations with a New York State Racing and Wagering ID number. $25 per occasion and 5% of profits paid to City of Cohoes.

Licenses for Bell Jar Operations

Issued only to qualifying organizations with a New York State Racing and Wagering ID number. $25 per calendar year and 2% of profits paid to City of Cohoes.
